Chosen by Air China for a B747 integration program, Heath Tecna provided engineering, supplied kit parts, and obtained an STC to reconfigure nine aircraft with two different LOPAs. Reconfiguration work was driven primarily by the installation of new first class and business class seats, as well as an IFE system upgrade. Economy class seating was modified, PC/seat power systems were overhauled, and new BFE video control closets were also installed. In addition, updated ACCESS layouts and programming were provided along with on-site staff to support the database upgrade.
CAP kits to upgrade Zone B were ordered, which meant the removal of centerline bins on four of the aircraft, to be replaced with new sculpted ceiling panels. An ECLS lighting upgrade was also installed in several zones on all aircraft and the EEPL was reworked. Other work included the supply or modification of PSUs, doorway liners, overhead bin parts, VCC ventilation systems, floor systems, wiring/cables, and new structural supports.
First class and business class cabin furnishings were also manufactured by Heath Tecna for the program which included centerline bar units, centerline serving units, outboard integrated seat stowages, partitions, curtain assemblies, and monument fairings. Each bar unit featured a granite counter, custom bent liquor retaining racks, curvilinear panels, an ice bucket, stowage for amenities, and scenic artwork.
